The Story Behind the Hive A decorative honeycomb grid in gold with a small bee, used as the page header for the About page

TriviaHive604 is a labour of love: love of learning, love of community, and love of not taking life too seriously.

I'm a queer mom with 17 years of experience working in non-profits and a lifelong obsession with trivia and games. What started as me gamifying volunteer trainings to make them more engaging and memorable quickly expanded into exploring how creative, interactive game experiences can build community, raise awareness (and funds), and share knowledge. I started to think about how I could take the idea further.

I've been to many traditional galas and fundraisers, staff and volunteer trainings, and team-building events that, honestly, no matter how lovely they were, often felt more like an obligation than a celebration of those involved. So I thought about how I could create something different. In a world that is moving more and more toward standardisation, I work to create something creative, customisable, and unique for you. A way to bring people together for a common good, that shares the important work a charity does through a unique experience.

The interest blew me away as things grew from there: team-building events during COVID, volunteer appreciations, staff training check-ins, and charity fundraisers. No matter the goal or the type of event, the same thing happened every time. People laughed, connected, and left feeling good while learning a bit more about themselves and their community.

The name TriviaHive comes from my love of bees and everything they represent. A hive works because every individual contributes to something larger than themselves, and that's exactly what great events do. Games have always been a way to bond, so why not build games that also share knowledge, build awareness, and support good causes?

That's TriviaHive604. Good times for good causes.

Let's build something great.
